No, the Psycho Candy club is not being ressurected....yet...(although we have been bouncing the idea off our ever expanding foreheads)
However, your two favorite Psycho Candy DJ's will be playing at Sumo on the 29th June in their respective bands.....so..it's almost a reunion....well .......no, ....not really
Anyway you're welcome to come down, enjoy the show and persuade us to start DJ'ing again!!!!
For the time being anyway. We won't be gone forever.
The last Psycho Candy at the Attik on Saturday didn't actually happen. I turned up to find the PA was away being fixed and the bar was poorley stocked. I was offered the upstairs room after the bands had finished, but they started to over run and we wouldn't have been able to start setting up until 12.30am.
So I called it a day and we went to Firebug for beer.
If you wan to catch us, I'll still be DJ'ing once a month at Retributions goth night commonly known as Darkscape plus I'm guesting at Woolstock in December. Jeremy will continue to DJ at New Potatoes indie night.
The next Psycho Candy is on Saturday 25th November 2006.
Its likley that this will be the last one at The Attik, and possibly the last one for a while until we sort out a new venue.
Turnout has been low lately due to a number of factors. Some of which I'll mention:
There is a good rock/alternative bar 5 minutes walk away from us that is free entry and has a bar till 4am. The roads surrounding our venue have been a building site for a few months now. Its not attractive and is yet another psychological barrier. We think our venue has lost its charm for you lovely, lovely club goers. Yes, the Attik is a dive but it had something, thats why we went there in the first place, but you're voting with your feet.
So......we've had a good few years at the Attik and plenty of fond memories, but we feel that Psycho Candy has run its course in its current incarnation. We'll take a break and start looking for somewhere new in the new year.
Just a quick reminder that its the psycho Candy Club on Saturday. All the details can be gleaned from clicking on that there General Info Link just up there.
It'll have a different feel this month with DJ's Jo and Fay replacing myself and Flowersdie.
Soooo... if yer not infesting Bradfud, Reading or Leeds, then geyt yerselves down t' Attik.
Due to an incredible balls up in the area of double booking shennanigans, both us regular DJ's, Neal and Jeremy (a.k.a Lostlittlerobot&Flowersdie) will be away at Infest and The Eden Project respectivley for this August's Psycho Candy. Thus we have ushered in the wonderful DJ's that are Lady J and Faye to delight you with their very own dark party tape in our places.
